After Tapia/Coello and Sánchez/Ustero closed the Alpine Paris Major on 13 September, the Premier Padel calendar went quiet, Scotland staged its inaugural Open on BBC Sport for the first time, and CUPRA deepened its UK padel ties with the LTA. Here is your UK round-up for 14 to 20 September 2026.
Scottish Open: inaugural Grade One weekend on BBC Sport
The inaugural Scottish Open Padel Championships ran from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September at Racket Barn in Glasgow, with a £4,000 prize fund and LTA British Tour Grade One ranking points. Tennis Scotland’s preview put play starting at 4pm on Friday, 9.30am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, and listed Scotland’s top two men Nicholas Hatchett and Sam Macneil as a pair alongside LTA ranking leaders Josep Aymerich Bellmunt and Rafael Vega. Named women’s pairs included Eliza Pooley with Ainhoa Rico, and Lucy Jones with Abigail Ombler-Truran.
Finals Day on Sunday 20 September was streamed live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website from 10am, with semi-finals and both title matches on the bill. Broadcaster Jeremy Bone flagged it as padel live on BBC Sport for the first time. Tennis Scotland also used the weekend to give Govan High School students a try-padel session at the venue. Official champion write-ups had not yet landed on the LTA or Tennis Scotland news wires by Monday morning; use the tournament schedule and draws link from Tennis Scotland’s preview for confirmed final scores.
CUPRA becomes Official Automotive Partner of LTA Padel
On 15 September the LTA announced a multi-year deal making CUPRA the Official Automotive Partner of LTA Padel and title partner of the CUPRA LTA Padel National League, described as the largest team-based padel competition in Great Britain. The package also covers support for the LTA Padel British Tour, the LTA Padel National Championships and Great Britain’s national padel teams.
LTA figures in the same release put British participation at 1,000,000 players (up from 15,000 in 2019) and infrastructure at 1,825 courts across 551 venues. CUPRA already partners Premier Padel and the CUPRA FIP Tour internationally, and backed the inaugural London Premier Padel P1 earlier in the summer.
Tour pause after Paris; GB eyes Madrid qualifier
Premier Padel had no tour stop between the Paris Major (6–13 September at Roland-Garros) and the CUPRA Rotterdam P2 (28 September to 4 October at Ahoy, prize money €264,534). That mid-September gap left British attention on domestic Grade One padel in Glasgow and on squads preparing for the FIP World Cup European qualifier.
Great Britain’s men’s and women’s teams travel to Pádel G24 in Madrid from 22 to 26 September, where 55 national teams from 29 countries compete for four places (two men’s, two women’s) at November’s World Cup finals in Doha. The LTA named the GB squads on 7 September, with Chloe De La Mare and Theo Garton among the open-team call-ups.
