This Week in Padel: 26 October – 1 November 2026

Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia wrapped up a fourth straight year as world No.1 in Kuwait, Great Britain’s women found out they will face world champions Spain at the FIP World Cup in Doha, and new data showed just how much more it costs to book a court in London than in the north. Councils in Glasgow, Leeds and Northumberland also said yes to new courts. Here is your UK round-up for 26 October to 1 November 2026.

Kuwait Major: Coello and Tapia seal world No.1, Triay and Brea fight back

The Kuwait Major finished at The Arena Kuwait on Saturday 31 October. Top seeds Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia beat ninth seeds Juan Tello and Maxi Arce 6-1, 6-1 in under an hour. It was their fifth title in a row and their 13th of 2026, and the FIP confirmed the result guarantees they finish the season as world No.1 for the fourth year running. Tello and Arce were playing their first Premier Padel final together, helped by a draw that opened up after Ale Galán was injured and he and Fede Chingotto withdrew.

The women’s final was much closer. Top seeds Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea lost the first set 6-3 to third seeds Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero, then won the next two 6-1, 6-1. Both pairs had come through long semi-finals on Friday: Triay and Brea beat Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo 6-4, 2-6, 7-6, while Sánchez and Ustero needed more than three and a half hours to get past Paula Josemaría and Bea González 4-6, 7-6, 7-6. TiebreakNews reports the win takes Triay to 59 career titles, the most of any woman in professional padel.

FIP World Cup: GB women drawn with Spain in Doha

Great Britain’s women play at the FIP World Cup Finals for the first time in five years, and Sunday’s draw put them in Group A with Spain, Brazil and Germany. Speaking to The Padel Paper before the draw, GB’s Catherine Rose said she was “praying for Spain or Argentina” so the squad could test themselves against the best players in the world, and she got her wish.

The squad is Aimee Gibson, Catherine Rose, Tia Norton, Lisa Phillips, Laura Jackson, Abigail Tordoff, Chloe De La Mare and Victoria Nicholas, captained by Libby Fletcher and coached by Iciar Montes. Norton is back after missing September’s European qualifier in Madrid with an Achilles injury. The group stage runs from 2 to 4 November, with the top two in each group going through to the quarter-finals. GB’s men did not qualify after losing to Germany in Madrid.

London v the north: what an hour of padel costs

A Padel Paper analysis of booking data from Playskan, published on 27 October, puts the average price of an hour of padel in Britain at £34. In London the average is £47, compared with £37 in Manchester, £33 in Liverpool and £32 in Leeds. York came out cheapest at an average of £23, with off-peak courts from £16 at York St John University, while Ipswich was the cheapest in the south at £24.

Playskan’s figures suggest London clubs are also busier, at an average occupancy of 66% against 50% in Manchester. Over the past three months, nine Manchester clubs cut their prices and six put them up, while in London nine raised prices and five lowered them. The occupancy and booking value numbers are Playskan estimates rather than figures confirmed by the clubs.

New courts approved in Glasgow, Leeds and Morpeth

Glasgow City Council’s planning applications committee approved three padel courts at Titwood Bowling Club in Pollokshields on 27 October, despite 79 objections. Glasgow Live reports the £500,000 project from Gancho Padel includes acoustic screening and a new building with changing rooms, and courts can open from 8am to 10pm. The bowling club told the meeting it does not have enough money to carry on as it is and sees the courts as a way to secure its future.

In Leeds, the city council has given Power Padel Group permission to turn a vacant warehouse on Carr Crofts Drive in Armley into a six-court indoor centre with a café-bar, open from 6am to 11pm and expected to create around 12 jobs, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported on 1 November. In Northumberland, Morpeth Golf Club has permission for two courts on part of its practice area, open to the public and not only to members, after an earlier car park scheme was dropped on cost grounds.

The week ahead

The FIP World Cup Finals run all week in Doha. Women’s ties start at 11:00 UK time and men’s at 15:00, with the quarter-finals on Thursday 5 November, semi-finals on Friday and the finals on Saturday 7 November, all streamed on the FIP YouTube channel. Premier Padel then moves on to the Dubai P1 from 8 to 15 November. The inaugural LTA Padel Junior National Championships were played at Just Padel Derby on 29 and 30 October, but we could not find full official results at the time of writing, so we will cover the champions once the LTA publishes them.
