How we choose and research padel kit

Anyone can copy a spec sheet. Our aim is to explain what a piece of padel kit is designed to do, who it suits, and whether it is good value for UK club players. Here is how we put every review and buying guide together.

How we select what to feature

We start with what UK players are buying and asking about, then shortlist models that are genuinely available to buy in the UK right now. We do not pad our lists with discontinued kit or products you cannot get hold of.

How we research each product

Our guides are research-led. For each product we bring together:

  • manufacturer specifications, materials and construction details;
  • how the model fits into the brand’s wider range and what changed from the previous version;
  • which professional players use it or its close relatives;
  • verified owner feedback and ratings from major UK retailers, which we cite with the source when we quote them;
  • current UK pricing and availability.

What we look at

For rackets, we look at the things that shape how a racket plays: shape and balance, weight, core and face materials, sweet spot size and forgiveness, comfort and vibration, build quality, durability and value for money. For shoes, we focus on sole pattern and grip on UK surfaces, stability, cushioning, breathability and durability. For balls and accessories, it is performance, longevity and value.

No made-up scores

We do not give products numerical scores or star ratings of our own. Instead, each review ends with a plain-English verdict on who the product suits best. Where we mention a rating, it is a third-party owner rating and we say where it comes from.

Honesty and updates
