London hosted the highest-level professional padel event on British soil outside the Premier Padel P1 this week, with the FIP Silver R3 Bullpadel Cup at Stratford Padel Club, while Powerleague announced a first-of-its-kind coaching recruitment drive and Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia finally won a title in Germany. Here is your UK round-up for 5 to 11 October 2026.
FIP Silver R3 Bullpadel Cup Stratford: Barahona/Piotto and Virseda/Fassio win in London
Stratford Padel Club in east London staged the fourth of five CUPRA FIP Tour events in Great Britain this year, from 7 to 11 October, with 32 pairs in each main draw and €18,000 in prize money. The LTA billed it as the highest level of professional padel hosted in Britain outside the London Premier Padel P1, and 23 British players were in the women’s draw alone.
In Sunday’s men’s final, second seeds Javier Barahona and Ignacio Piotto beat fourth seeds Álvaro Cepero and Andrés Fernández Lancha 7-6, 6-3. Barahona and Piotto came through a three-set semi-final against third seeds Francisco Cabeza and Mariano González (5-7, 6-3, 6-4), while Cepero and Fernández Lancha beat Alex Blanco and Marco Remolina 6-2, 6-3.
The women’s title went to top seeds Verónica Virseda and Martina Fassio, who beat fourth seeds Emily Stellato and Giulia Sussarello 6-2, 6-0 in the final, a week after winning the FIP Gold in Perugia. They also won their semi-final 6-2, 6-2, against Marcella Koek and Stephanie Weterings.
For the home players, it was a week of near misses. British No.1 Christian Medina Murphy, fresh from winning the LTA Padel National Championships, reached the quarter-finals as fifth seed with Spain’s Alberto García before losing 6-1, 6-2 to Cabeza and González. In the women’s event, both National champions also went out in the quarter-finals: Aimee Gibson and Alba Pérez Momha (2) and Catherine Rose and Rebeca López (3) both saw their matches end in retirements. Wild cards Sam Jones and GB junior No.1 Ben Phillips won their first-round match 6-1, 6-1 before losing to the eventual finalists Cepero and Fernández Lancha.
The fifth and final British FIP event of the year, the FIP Bronze at City Padel Taunton, runs from 19 to 25 October.
Powerleague creates five full-time regional padel lead roles
The Padel Paper reported on 8 October that Powerleague is creating five full-time regional padel lead positions, thought to be a first for a major British operator. Powerleague now has 51 padel courts across 12 of its football venues, from Shoreditch to Paisley, with four more sites due to add padel before the end of the year and an ambition to add padel to almost half of its 43 football sites.
Each regional lead will look after three or four clubs, delivering coaching programmes, mentoring coaches and making sure every venue runs consistent leagues, junior programmes and social sessions. Because Powerleague is LTA-registered, the successful candidates must be LTA accredited. Head of Padel Freya Tringham told The Padel Paper that the aim is to widen the player base beyond its mostly young, male football customers, adding: “How you retain customers is through developing them.” The operator’s own data shows 56% of its football customers have also played padel at its venues.
On the business side of the pro game, The Padel Paper also covered (7 October) Premier Padel’s new betting partnerships, first announced in late September: iGame Media becomes the tour’s official betting data and streaming partner from the 2027 season, and Premier Padel and the FIP have appointed Sportradar as their betting integrity partner to monitor for match-fixing.

Germany P2: Coello/Tapia win in Düsseldorf for the first time, Fernández/Calvo dominate
The CUPRA Germany Premier Padel P2 finished at Castello Düsseldorf on Sunday 11 October. Top seeds Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia beat fourth seeds Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) in the men’s final, the second week running they have beaten the same pair in a final. Premier Padel says it was their first title in Germany, after losing last year’s final, their third in a row after the Paris Major and Rotterdam, and their eleventh of the season. Stupaczuk and Sanz had knocked out second seeds Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto 7-6, 6-4 in the semi-finals, while Coello and Tapia beat Juan Lebrón and Leandro Augsburger 6-2, 6-3.
In the women’s final, fourth seeds Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo beat Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero 6-3, 6-0 in one hour and eight minutes, turning around their Paris Major final defeat to the same pair. It is their second title together after the London P1 in August. Fernández and Calvo needed more than three hours to beat second seeds Bea González and Paula Josemaría in the semi-finals, while Sánchez and Ustero beat world No.1s Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea in three sets.
The week ahead
The Premier Padel European swing moves straight on to the Milano P1 at the Allianz Cloud, where the main draw starts on Monday 12 October. At home, entries for the inaugural LTA Padel Junior National Championships at Just Padel Derby (29 and 30 October) close on Friday 16 October at 2pm, the FIP Bronze at City Padel Taunton follows from 19 to 25 October, and Great Britain’s women head to the FIP World Cup in Doha from 2 to 7 November.
