Founded in 1905, Crowborough Tennis and Squash Club is a non-profit racquets club in East Sussex that launched padel in October 2023. It now has two floodlit outdoor courts, opened by the Town Mayor and sitting alongside the club’s tennis, squash, racketball and pickleball facilities. Padel is open to all: visitors can pay and play, booking through the club’s Find A Court page, while members book online up to ten days ahead at lower rates. Regular ‘Fast Four’ social mix-ins run through the week and a quarterly padel ladder operates, with coaching delivered by partner CTA Sussex. The clubhouse has a bar, lounge and refurbished changing rooms.

New to padel? What you need for your first session

Most UK padel venues hire rackets by the hour, so you do not need to buy anything before your first game. Check this club’s booking page for hire availability and prices.

Once you have played a few times and want your own kit, this is the order we would buy in.
